Many people get more wealthy simply as a result of keeping their job and paying back the mortgage. You end up owing less and less to the bank but your investment is not making money like a buy to let property.
Getting a job and access to credit is a good start in life. You get a nice property and pay back the bank, you can make it better by refinancing the loan and purchasing an additional property which you let to tenants. Active income can be translated in passive income.
