High CTR Website Homepage

Hi all, I have been testing a couple of homepage designs and found out this one is the one that gives the highest click through rate.

High CTR website homepage as at June 2010

What makes a high CTR website homepage?
There is no general rule, but basically:
- You want to keep the ads above the fold.
- Use 336×280 ads with blended background and border.
- Limit the number of links in that area of the page so that visitors click on the ads rather than any other link.
- Blend the adlink unit in the banner.

Keep the attention of the visitors and limit bounce rate with a catchy title and picture.

Regarding positioning a picture near Google ads:
You must make sure that the picture is not part of the ad.
It shouldn’t be confused for an illustration of what your visitors will find when clicking on the advertisement provided by Google Adsense.

The Adsense team has posted a policy clarification regarding ad and image placement. You should definitely read it, understand it and remember it otherwise you could end up banned from the best advertising program in the world!
