I wanted to share these excellent tips I came across – I hope that’s okay.
Did you know that you can increase the speed of Wordpress and other platforms by up to 4 times faster – for FREE and easily!
You can simply insert a couple of lines of code to the header.php to enable ZLIB compression – this will make your website (particularly Wordpress) up to 4 times faster instantly!
You can GZip your css files, etc which will save even more bandwidth and help your website load even quicker. There’s at least one GZip plugin for wordpress.
You can (of course) also use free tools to compress or crunch images too, which makes sites load quicker still.
Don’t forget to use wp-supercache for wordpress sites as well!
You can learn exactly how to do this by searching on google for each technique.
It is astounding how much difference this will make to your sites speed.
One little thing to note is that currently the Wordpress “all in one seo” plugin will stop adding the home page title you specify when you use compression and will instead show the blog title – but that’s not much of a problem and I’m sure it will eventually work with it.

It’s entirely up to you. I don’t however recommend that you simply copy and paste my work as it will be considered as a duplicate content by most search engines. This could result in your webpages (and maybe your entire website) being penalized.
